The Challenge Started as a Joke. By Week 3, I Had Regulars.
Context: my friend group has this running challenge where we dare each other to do increasingly stupid things. Previous challenges included eating a ghost pepper on camera, asking out a stranger at Target, and running a 5K in crocs. Normal guy stuff.
Last month the challenge was: "Stream on Chaturbate for one hour." The guys thought this was the ultimate dare. I took it because I don't back down, and honestly how bad could it be?
Week 1: The Dare
First stream. Friday at 10 PM. I set up my laptop in my bedroom, angled the camera to show me from the chest up (playing it safe), and went live. Shirtless, shorts, that's it.
First 15 minutes: weird. Just sitting there while a chat slowly fills up. I felt like I was on display at a zoo. But then people started talking. Asking questions. Being normal. Someone asked about my tattoo. Another person asked what I was drinking (whiskey, neat).
By the end of the hour I had 150 viewers and made about $45 in tips. Not life-changing money, but the experience was wild. It felt like hosting a tiny talk show from my bedroom.
Week 2: Okay Maybe Again
I told the guys I completed the dare. Challenge done. But then... I kept thinking about it. The energy was addictive. So I went live again on Tuesday. Just to see.
This time I set a tip goal: 500 tokens to do pushups. Hit it in 20 minutes. Next goal: 1000 tokens for a "fashion show" (just me trying on different outfits from my closet while chat voted). People loved it.
By the end of week two I'd streamed four times and made $280 total.
Week 3: Wait, Am I a Cam Model Now?
This is where it got real. I started recognizing usernames. People who came back every stream. I had regulars. They'd say hi when I logged on. Ask how my day was. One person sent me a message saying my stream was the highlight of their Wednesday.
I now stream 3 times a week. I have 40ish regulars. I've made about $800 total in three weeks. And honestly? I look forward to it. It's like having a weird little community that I host from my bedroom.
The dare group? They can't believe it. The new running joke is that I'm a professional internet boyfriend now. Whatever. I'm the one who's $800 richer.
If you want to try it, sign up here. The new model tag gets you insane visibility for the first few days. Don't waste it.
