What's the Most Unhinged Bet You've Ever Made?
I'll start. I shaved my head completely bald for $50. That's it. Fifty dollars. I had hair down to my shoulders and my buddy said "I'll give you $50 to shave it right now" and I said "deal" before my brain could intervene.
The haircut cost me approximately 8 months of growth and whatever dignity I had. The $50 was spent on beer that same night. Net loss by every possible metric.
But it got me thinking — every friend group has that one bet that went too far. The one that gets brought up at every gathering. The one where someone says "remember when..." and everyone groans.
What's the most unhinged bet you or your friends have ever made? I want the stories that make you question your own judgment.

My buddy bet me $100 he could eat a ghost pepper without drinking anything for 5 minutes after. He made it to 3 minutes and 47 seconds before he started crying and drinking milk directly from the jug. We still argue about whether he won or not. He says he was "close enough." He was not close enough.

Lost a bet and had to get a tattoo chosen by my friend group. They chose a small cartoon hotdog on my ankle. I've had it for 4 years now. My girlfriend calls it "Frank." I've accepted Frank as part of my identity.

I bet my roommate $500 that he couldn't go a full month without his phone. He made it 11 days. On day 12 he was physically shaking. We learned something about screen addiction that day and it wasn't funny.

Group of us bet on who could go the longest wearing a suit to casual situations. Class, grocery store, gym, everything. I lasted 9 days. My buddy lasted 14. He wore a full suit to a pickup basketball game. With dress shoes. He scored 12 points. We stopped the bet because he was clearly never going to quit and we were concerned for his mental health.

The tamest bet with the worst consequences: I bet my friend I could finish a large pizza faster than him. I won. I then threw up in his car. The cleaning bill was $180. The pizza was $15. Do the math.

Not unhinged but: my friend and I bet each other that we couldn't both run a half marathon within a year. We both did it. We both cried at the finish line. Best bet I've ever made.
