Spring Break Dare Wheel — We Made a Chart

Posted by OP_DareWheel · 2d ago · ▲ 723

Every year our friend group does a spring break trip. This year was Destin, Florida. 8 guys, 1 Airbnb, and a whiteboard we stole from someone's apartment.

On night one, someone drew a dare wheel on the whiteboard. Like an actual wheel divided into sections, with a spinner made from a bottle cap and a thumbtack. Real engineering.

The tiers were:

Green Zone (Mild): Text your ex something nice. Do 20 burpees on the beach. Let the group pick your outfit for the night. Sing the national anthem at full volume on the balcony.

Yellow Zone (Medium): Wear a speedo to the hotel pool. Ask a stranger for their number using a terrible pickup line. Let someone draw something on your back in sunscreen (you find out what it is when you burn). Order the weirdest thing on the menu and eat all of it.

Red Zone (Spicy): Karaoke solo at the beach bar — song chosen by the group. Swim in the ocean at midnight. Walk into a restaurant and pretend to be a food critic. Call your mom and tell her you're engaged.

Black Zone (Nuclear): There were only two slots in this zone. One said "TBD by group vote." The other said "the thing we don't talk about." Nobody landed on black zone until day 4.

Day 4, our friend Danny spins and lands on "TBD by group vote." The group voted: Danny has to spend one full hour at the hotel pool pretending to be a European tourist named "Giancarlo" who speaks broken English and is extremely confident. He committed so hard that a family invited "Giancarlo" to dinner. He declined, but barely.

Best spring break tradition we've ever started. Already planning the V2 wheel for next year. Taking suggestions if anyone has good dare ideas.

I want everyone to know that the family was LOVELY and "Giancarlo" almost accepted that dinner invitation. I had a whole backstory. I was from Milan. I was in "the fashion." I had a boat back home. The accent was flawless.

The accent was NOT flawless. You sounded like Mario. The family was just polite.

Mario is Italian. My accent was authentic. Rest my case.

The sunscreen drawing one is evil genius. Someone did that to me and I walked around for three days with a giant smiley face tanned into my back. Still visible in photos from August.

Adding to the dare suggestions: loser has to narrate everything they do in third person for one full hour. "Dave is now ordering a beer. Dave is now looking at the menu. Dave is uncomfortable."

This would destroy me socially but I respect it.

Our group does something similar but with a deck of cards. Each suit is a dare category, number is intensity. Drawing the ace of spades is the nuclear option. Last year it was "get a temporary tattoo chosen by the group." Our buddy has a small butterfly on his ankle now. He says it "has grown on him."

The karaoke one would end me. I can handle physical dares all day but singing in front of strangers? I'd rather do the polar plunge.

That's EXACTLY why it's in the red zone. The best dares target whatever makes you most uncomfortable.
